Wetlands and other natural habitats are increasingly suffering from the encroachment of both urban and agricultural activities. By taking responsibility for the wetlands of the la Station piscicole
de Baldwin (Baldwin Fish Hatchery), le Parc Découverte Nature de Baldwin is working toward the conservation and restoration of this marsh while allowing limited public access for observation
and education purposes.
In the future, the wetlands of the northeast section of the fish hatchery grounds will be open for educative purposes. With access to the marsh controlled by the park and proximity
to the park’s fishing ponds and streams, the marsh is an important part of the park’s mandate to promote conservation through education. The group Ducks
Unlimited is contributing both technical expertise and funds for the management of this section of our park; the first stage being the construction, now completed, of an observation tour.
