FRIENDS OF LE PARC DECOUVERTE NATURE DE BALDWIN GET TOGETHER
On Octobre 20th, 2006, les Amis du parc Découverte nature de Baldwin held a first fundraising event. More than 100 people from
the area took part in an oyster party and were treated to a meal, courtesy of L’Eggspress du Verger.
The goal of the meeting was to better understand le parc Découverte nature and its aim to educate visitors on natural environment, a goal in place since the opening of
the park in June 2006. The president of the Council of Administration of the park, André Langevin, presented the 22 local businesses that have become corporate members of the Société des
Amis du parc. Mr. Langevin emphasized the importance of the contribution of these enterprises. This group of entrepreneurs enthusiastically accepted to provide both a financial contributions
and their support to various park activities. Their involvement and participation to the animation and educational events of the summers 2006 and 2007 were beneficial to the park programs as well as to
the local economy.
The attendants had the opportunity to listen to Mrs. Suzanne Brûlotte, ornithologist and local author of the Eastern Townships. With the help of a wonderful selection of photographs, Mrs. Brûlotte
was able to share with us her enthusiasm for nature. Not only did she introduce the participants to bird watching, but also transferred her passion of learning about the birds living in the region. In
this regards, the parc Découverte nature, in collaboration with Ducks Unlimited, built an observation tower offering a unique view of the Fish Hatchery Marsh to bird
watchers.
At the end of the evening, Mr. Langevin promised that the event would be repeated again in autumn of 2007.
The Amis du parc Découverte nature de Baldwin, Coaticook express their thanks to its corporate members who generously support its activities.
